Kris Jones became the first Welshman to win the Scottish Cross-Country Championships on Saturday February 24th.
Dai Sport has a nice picture and story here.
In a significant postscript to this news, on March 11th Kris broke 65 minutes for the half-marathon. The race was in Inverness. Kris was second behind Robbie Simpson.
RunABC Scotland reports
Simpson benefitted from a powerful showing from Dundee-based Welsh international Kris Jones, who won the Scottish cross country title a fortnight earlier. Jones made a determined bid to stay with Simpson but was unable to match the Banchory athlete’s sustained fast pace over the final third of the race. However Jones' time (1:04:58) would have been good enough to win in any other year since 1993.
